About Olivia

I’m Olivia McDonah, a Grade 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) student at Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia. As a competitive curler and volleyball player, I thrive on challenges and teamwork. My current goal is to run or walk 6km each day for three weeks, symbolizing the average round-trip distance women and children in developing countries walk each day to fetch water. My goal is to raise a minimum of $3000 to fund a water filtration center for a school or orphanage in Tanzania, which will employ a female entrepreneur with a living wage.

This blog is dedicated to tracking my progress and sharing information about the Happiness Run for Clean Water and Gender Equality. This project is a component of my IB diploma, showcasing my dedication to creativity, activity, and service. By addressing four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through this project, I hope to make a real and meaningful impact:

Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3): Improving health through access to clean water.
Gender Equality (Goal 5): Empowering women through employment opportunities.
Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6): Ensuring access to safe and affordable drinking water.
Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8): Creating sustainable jobs with fair wages.

I hope you will join me on this journey as we strive to make a positive impact together!
